The Devil Track River is on the Superior Hiking Trail, accessible from either Highway 61 (four miles east of Grand Marais, and one mile north on Lindskog Road), or from Pincushion Mountain Overlook (up the Gunflint Trail from Grand Marais, with a right on Pincushion Road). The red canyon of the Devil Track River gets its distinctive red coloring from the volcanic rock Rhyolite.
