Caribou Rock Trail can be accessed from Hungry Jack Lake Road, east of the Gunflint Trail. This hiking trail in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) requires a self-issued day permit. It is a moderate to difficult hike, with sometimes steep, rocky terrain. There is a short 3/4 mile trip to the West Bearskin Lake overlook, and then another leg of 3/8 mile to a view of Moss Lake. Further along Caribou Rock Trail is Stairway Portage and Rose Lake. Note that at times this scenic and remote trail is not clearly marked.
