Why are there [1], [2] and so on in the article. I don't see any references.

Thank you for your attention to these details and your meticulous editing.

I think there may be something amiss with adding references...I've added some in a few Placeography posts that have disappeared.

Don't know if the reason some references vanish is that I'm not putting them in correctly...

I've used the tags ref enclosed with <> </>

Perhaps I'm missing some formatting or punctuation [ or , or " required or there could be another reason some of the references disappear.

I can search for records where you can see the references and compare them with those where you can't see the references to attempt to figure this out....or...

Joe Hoover may know.
