Over 1,000 shop workers were employed here by the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis and Omaha Railroad. Part of original roundhouse (torn down in 1998) is still standing, now used as a warehouse. The other buildings were demolished long ago. This was one of the sites of the 1922 shopcraft strike.
