Mill City Museum is located in the former Washburn A Mill. The mill, once part of a vibrant flour milling district, closed in 1965. In 1991 it was severely damaged by fire. After the city of Minneapolis cleaned up the rubble and fortified the walls of the mill, the Minnesota Historical Society began development of the property into the Mill City Museum.
