This is the childhood home of Maud Hart Lovelace, author of numerous Betsy-Tacy books, very popular with girls in the 1950s and 1960s. It is now a museum operated by the Betsy/Tacy Society.
History
"Betsy's home on Hill Street was my old home, 333 Center Street, Tacy's house was the Kenney house just across the street. And Tib's house was the Gerlach house on Byron Street. The first two look much as they used to… except for the fact that our backyard maple is gone and that homes have been built on what was once the long slope of the Kenney back yard, with its pump and buggy shed and barn and the fence on which we used to sit and watch the sunrise!"
