In February 2008, prominent Minnesota politicians gathered with union members and local residents to announce the expansion of the U.S. Steel taconite plant in Keewatin. The press conference was held upstairs in the city hall. Governor Tim Pawlenty, Senator Amy Klobuchar, Senator Norm Coleman, a few reporters, and many Range politicians were on hand.
