This large queen Anne Style wood frame house was built in 1895 for Eugene & Christina Villaume. Eugene Villamue was a prosperous West Side industrialist and businessman who transformed a tiny cabinetmaking business into a huge successful lumber and cabinet making firm, which was one of the West Side's leading industries for almost 70 years. In 1938 the Villaume house was purchased by an order of Catholic sisters and used as the St. Peter Claver Convent untill the early 1980's.

This large wood frame house was built in 1895–6 for Eugene & Christina Villaume. Eugene Villaume was a prosperous West Side industrialist and businessman who transformed a tiny cabinetmaking business into a hugely successful lumber and cabinet-making firm, one of the West Side’s leading industries for almost 70 years. In 1938, the house was purchased by an order of Catholic sisters for use as the St. Peter Claver Convent until the early 1980s. My family has lived here since 1995, and I’ve held many community gatherings here. It’s a space that needs to be shared…I’m on the home tour to encourage people to learn home maintenance and repair basics, as I have continuing need to do, and offer home repair financing information.
