The original owner of this house, which was built for $2,450, was Mrs. Ellen Gillette, the widow of Albert J. Gillette. She lived in house which was designed by English born St. Paul architect Walter Ife. This is one of a number of late 19th century within this area yet its design is far more ornate, and much more intact than most of the others.
