The original owner of this house, which was built for $3500, was Bertha Oerting, the wife of Jacob Oerting who was a contractor who built the house. Both of these people also lived here. This simple house represents the transition occuring in St. Paul vernacular architecture between the Victorian and the Colonial Revival styles.
