Published for nearly two decades by A.L. Graves, the Broad-Axe, located at this site, was a turn-of-the-century Populist newspaper. Published weekly on St. Paul's West Side, it supported the Pullman strikers and other labor causes. The slogan on its masthead was: "Hew to the Line — Let the Chips Fall Where They May."
