In 1887 a two-story Fire Department Veterinary Infirmary (Fire Barn) was constructed at this location next to Fire Station Number 7. (See 2105 East Franklin Avenue.) According to Minneapolis Fire Department records, John W. Horton was the Veterinary Surgeon. In 1922 MFD Station Number 7 was motorized, and as motorized vehicles replaced horse-drawn rigs the Veterinary Infirmary was no longer needed by the city. In 1935 a reconstruction began, and on February 15, 1937 the new MFD Fire Station Number 7 opened in this building. The doors opened facing West, and were later filled in after the station moved across the street in 1962. (See 2000 East Franklin Avenue.) Toward the rear of the building the bell tower is still visible. In 2009 the building is occupied by an Assembly of God Church.
